Beyond the Date: Making Human Rights a Daily Reality in Nepal

Est. 2026

Every year on December 10, Ojaswi Nepal joins the global community to mark International Human Rights Day. For us, this day is more than a celebration; it is a renewal of our pledge to protect the inherent dignity of every individual in Nepal.

From the remote wards of rural municipalities to the policy halls of the capital, Ojaswi Nepal uses this day to amplify the voices of those often left behind—women, children, and marginalized groups—ensuring their rights to equality and justice are recognized and respected.

How We Celebrate: Our Key Activities

1. Awareness Rallies & Community Dialogues We organize local rallies and “Chautari” (community) discussions to educate citizens about their fundamental rights. By simplifying complex legal concepts into local languages, we empower community members to identify and report human rights violations.

2. Policy Advocacy with Local Leaders On Human Rights Day, we host interface meetings between marginalized groups and local government officials. These sessions focus on ensuring that municipal services are accessible to all, regardless of caste, gender, or economic status, aligning local governance with human rights standards.

3. Art & Youth Engagement We believe the next generation must be the guardians of justice. We organize art competitions and street dramas involving school children and youth clubs to depict themes of “Equality” and “Social Justice,” sparking conversations within families and neighborhoods.

Our Ongoing Commitment

While Human Rights Day serves as a powerful reminder, Ojaswi Nepal’s work continues 365 days a year. We provide ongoing support for:

  • Legal Literacy: Helping women understand their inheritance and property rights.
  • Social Inclusion: Advocating for the participation of Dalit and minority groups in local decision-making.
  • Climate Justice: Recognizing that a clean and healthy environment is a fundamental human right.

“Human rights are not a gift from the government; they are the birthright of every citizen. At Ojaswi, we stand as the bridge between those rights and the people who deserve them.” — Ojaswi Nepal
