Protecting the Future: Our Commitment to Nepal’s Children

At Ojaswi Nepal, we believe that every child deserves a childhood free from exploitation and full of opportunity. Our work is rooted in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and aligned with Nepal’s Child-Friendly Local Governance (CFLG) national framework.

We don’t just provide aid; we change the systems that protect children. By working directly with municipal governments, schools, and families, we ensure that child rights are not just a theory, but a daily reality in the communities we serve.

Our Core Intervention Areas

1. Ending Child Marriage & Harmful Practices Nepal still faces high rates of early marriage. Ojaswi Nepal leads community-based dialogues to change mindsets. We empower “Youth Champions” to act as first responders, identifying at-risk girls and coordinating with local authorities to stop marriages before they happen.

2. Child-Centered Planning & Budgeting We believe children should have a seat at the table. We facilitate the formation of Local Child Clubs, training them to participate in the government’s 7-step planning process. This ensures that a portion of the municipal budget is dedicated to child-friendly parks, libraries, and school infrastructure.

3. Inclusive Education for Marginalized Groups Education is the ultimate protector of rights. We focus on the “Out-of-School” population, particularly children from Dalit and minority groups. By providing educational toolkits and conducting “Back-to-School” campaigns, we break the cycle of poverty and child labor.

Our programs aim to create a protective “safety net” around the child. By strengthening the capacity of Ward Child Rights Committees, we ensure that there is a local body ready to handle cases of neglect, abuse, or school dropouts immediately.
